Michela Spagnuolo

Michela Spagnuolo is senior researcher at IMA-CNR, where she is member of the Computer Graphics Group.

Her research interests are related to shape-based approaches for modelling spatial data. She has mainly studied techniques of geometric reasoning for the extraction of shape features from discrete surface models, having spatial data handling as primary application context.

Lately, she has been mainly involved in the development of geometric models for coding uncertainty in data samples (fuzzy-based modelling), as well as in the definition of shape-based approaches to data compression.
Currently, she is scientific responsible of two international projects of the Institute: the joint project Italy-Japan on "High-quality Terrain Modelling" and the EEC Telematics projects "A data management and data visualization system for supporting coastal zone management for the Mediterranean sea".
