Cognitive models based on information and communication technology

Resp: Paola Forcheri

The proposal stems from the work already carried out and the results obtained by Project "Artificial Intelligence and Applications" of IMA, and by the numerous projects linked to it in these years (i.e. Qualification 2000 and Teleconferencing, EU ADAPT initiative).

As a consequence, we intend to work following two different lines:

  1. From the one hand, we will continue research focusing on the new cooperation and training opportunities, due to the diffusion of technology. This work, based on previously obtained results, aims to define, analyse and experiment models for using multimedia and net technology to render effective these opportunities. The application fields of the model will be: the school, including teachers’ preparation and in-service training; and the enterprise.
  2. On the other hand, we will study the problems regarding the relationship between common sense rational and mathematical logic, deriving also from the development of the information society. The work aims to discuss the educational implications and the possible influence on automated reasoning of the changes in this relationship. In particular, we will refer to the school context, taking into account the educational opportunities offered by information technology.
